At just 22 years of age, Johnny Spillane did what no other American has ever done before, Johnny became the first American to win a World Championship Gold Medal. Johnny’s success continued throughout the year with three other podium finishes on the World Cup tour and finished the season with a career best 7th overall in the World. From obscurity to celebrity, Johnny is still adjusting to his new found fame in Europe. With his sights set for the 2006 Olympic Games in Italy, it will not be long before Johnny becomes a household name in the United States as the first Olympic Gold medalist for the US in Nordic Combined. Just another history setting first that Johnny would like to see next to his name in the record books!
